What Can I Expect on My First Visit?

Your first visit includes an intake exam, acupuncture treatment and/or nutritional and herbal consultation, for approximately an hour and a half. The intake exam will include a tongue and pulse diagnosis. Please avoid drinking caffeine 3 hours before the visit, as well as any food with strong color (i.e. blueberries or strawberries). It is advisable to eat a light meal before the visit, so that you don't arrive hungry. Please dress comfortably with loose clothes that easily roll above the knees and elbows.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

Your treatment plan depends on the severity and duration of your ailment, but generally I recommend two treatments a week for the first two weeks, after which we will meet once a week for four to eight weeks before an evaluation. This treatment plan is geared to initiate your body’s healing response, especially after a prolonged conditioned reaction to pain or disharmony in your system.

What Happens if I Miss a Treatment?

We require 24 hours notice for cancelled appointments. I highly recommend a make up session to keep the momentum of your healing, especially in the beginning of your treatment plan.

What is Your Cancellation Policy?

We have a strict 24 hours cancellation policy to avoid a surcharge. Appointments cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged in full.

Do you take insurance?

I am out-of-network with all insurance providers.  Please call your insurance provider and ask if your plan covers acupuncture out-of-network and if they can reimburse you directly.  You’ll also want to ask if any specific diagnoses are covered (low back pain is common). At the end of your visit, I am happy to provide you with an itemized receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
